Brief:
Convert the empty shell of a renovated boathouse (a listed building) and adjoining car repair garage into a restaurant.
Solution:
To break through the party wall between the buildings to provide vision lines throughout. Form a mezzanine floor for dining in the old garage space which wraps around a long ground floor bar and reception space. Install a wide staircase leading up to the main dining space and mezzanine area.
Despite the building being long and narrow the layout provides good visibility for all customers. The interior is a mix of brick, dark wood and leathers in the bar area with a lighter feel achieved using brighter leather colours for the upholstery and a softer colour scheme in the restaurant areas.
The use of club style lighting also plays a major role in achieving the desired atmosphere.
