Brief to Mc Donnell Design, Interior Designers.
Café, Coffee Shop concept. The brief was to create an indigenous relaxed café and coffee shop to compete with the multinational brands in both the quality of the offer and comfort / atmosphere level. The service was to be serve over / self serve for all.
Solution
An urban feel was chosen, using a pared down finish of exposed concrete ceiling and services overhead. Distressed natural materials, digital wallcoverings and salvaged oak flooring complete the look. Different zones of comfort and privacy were created using a mishmash of retro leather sofas with coffee tables, retro leather fixed seating with dining height tables and loose urban vintage high and standard height chairs and bench tables. A dimmer controlled lighting system using contemporary and retro lighting scheme was also proposed. The customer to staff ratio of the 115 seater would allow a good return on investment for the client.
