Brief to Mc Donnell Design, Interior Designers.
The Happy Landing was a traditional village bar with a 50 seated restaurant to the rear. As this was a growing satellite village the client’s brief was to demolish and build a new rear restaurant extension to accommodate 90 seats.
Solution
Build a high roofed A frame single storey extension to give the new restaurant a sense of space and identity. Incorporate a feature bar and lounge area to encourage the use of the space throughout trading hours.
A light and airy feel is achieved throughout with the pitched timber clad ceiling.
Mahogany wood, stainless steel and brick combined with a contemporary colour scheme create a warm and welcoming environment. Lighting is very subtle, not a pendant or downlighter in sight. Instead low level lighting and uplighters were incorporated to enhance the sense of space afforded by the pitched ceiling.
