Brief to Mc Donnell Design, Interior Designers.
Update a tired interior in a space with a low ceiling level and address the comfort level for customers dining in this very busy café which also has a very busy trade in ice cream sales to go.
The use of exposed painted brickwork and T&G paneling in an off white colour with distressed embossed ceiling tile along with a patterned tiled floor gives a greater sense of space to the low ceiling cafe.
The solution to the comfort level of customers where previously loose chairs and tables were tightly packed together resulting in difficult access to the inside seats along with bumping into the customers behind also resulting to a lack of privacy for conversations was primary. This was resolved by the use of fixed seating booths with glazed privacy screens on the seat backs giving the necessary comfort level and privacy.
Grey pendant light fittings over tables with under seat lighting helping give an airiness to the interior. The front servery counter has off white units, distressed timber sheeting, wooden worktops and pendant lighting in keeping with the overall interior style. Commissioned photographic images of local interest are mounted on boxed canvas frames to complete the look.
Café Mauds has increased trade and customers love the new interior design.
